Om Shree Ganeshay Namah

Salutations to the supreme Lord Ganesha, whose curved trunk
(vakra-tunda) and massive body (maha-kaayaa)shines like a million suns (surya-koti) and showers his blessings on everyone (sama-prabhaa). Oh my lord of lords Ganesha (kurume-deva), kindly remove all obstacles (nir-vighnam), always (sarva) and forever (sarvadaa) from all my activites and endeavors (sarva-kaaryeshu)

Lord Ganesha, also known as Vighnaharta or Vighneshwar . . . 'The Destroyer of Obstacles', is remembered and worshipped before any new venture, any new action, any new undertaking and even before praying to any other god. The most popular of all Indian gods, there is probably not a single Indian household in the world, irrespective of religion, cast, colour or economic status, where India's favorite god does not reside in some form. He touches and blesses each and every Indian's life in some way.
